Queensland Sheep and Goat eID Discount Program.
The QLD Department of Primary Industries (DPI) has announced that to incentivise adoption of eID Devices by QLD Sheep/Goat Farmers, they are implementing an eID Device Discount Program.
From Monday 30th March 2026 until 30th June 30th 2027, a Discount of $0.75c (ex GST) per Sheep/Goat eID Tag will be available on eligible Sheep/Goat eID Devices of all colours (8 x Year-of-Birth Colour Tags + Post-Breeder Pink Tag) ordered for eligible QLD Producers.
Eligible eID Devices are defined as those that are fully or conditionally accredited by the Integrity Systems Company Ltd for use in complying with the National Livestock Identification System (NLIS / Sheep and Goats).
Eligible QLD Producers are defined as a Person or Organisation with a current Queensland Registered Biosecurity Entity (RBE) and Property Identification Code (PIC) who has an approved NLIS Order Form through the DPI On-Line Portal or a DPI Office (where Inspectors are located).
QLD DPI will requires Pre-Approval from the Department to be secured for eligible Device POs for more than 3,500 eID Tags prior to the order being fulfilled. The QLD DPI requires the PIC Holder to complete (and have approved by the Department) a “Pre-Approval Form” (available from the Department), which then needs to be submitted to Tag Suppliers with the PO, before the Order can be fulfilled.
Additionally, from 2026, Queensland processors, saleyards and agriculture show sub chambers may also be eligible for a capped rebate of up to 50% of the cost of eligible items such as eID device readers.
This funding (Round 2) supports the purchase and installation of eligible items to implement mandatory individual eID for sheep and managed goats. Rebates relate to items purchased on or after 1st January 2023. Applications close 30th September 2026 or earlier if funds exhausted.
For more information on applications see the Qld website HERE Download the Scheme Guidelines HERE.
