Acatakâ„¢ is a pour-on formulation containing the tick development inhibitor fluazuron. Acatakâ„¢ provides long-lasting protection*1Â of beef cattle against fluazuron sensitive cattle ticks (Rhipicephalus microplus). When treated with Acatakâ„¢, immature ticks are unable to moult to the next stage of their life cycle, and no larvae will hatch from eggs laid by treated females. Acatakâ„¢ not only provides long-term tick protection*1Â for cattle but can also help lower the tick burden in pasture.

- 1. Retreat when you first see ticks but not before at least 6 weeks after the previous treatment.
- 2. Maximum number of treatments per annual tick season: 3.
- 3. To achieve optimal efficacy, Acatak Duostar relies on a combination of absorption through the skin and oral ingestion (via grooming). For oral ingestion it is critical that the product is applied as 2 x 7cm wide bands, from the shoulder to the rump, that are well separated on either side of the spine. Use an Elanco approved applicator. DO NOT use any other applicator.
- 4. The weight of cattle should be determined by either scales or a weighband. Dose individuals according to the heaviest animal in the mob. Recommended rate gives 1.5mg fluazuron and 0.5mg ivermectin per kg bodyweight of beef cattle. DO NOT underdose.
- 5. There is no need to treat calves for cattle tick as long as they suckle treated cows. Calves will receive adequate protection from their mother. A reduced length of protection may occur in cows which are suckling calves.
- 6. Acatak Duostar should not be applied to show cattle as a light scurfiness may be visible for some time after treatment.
- 7. The effect of Acatak Duostar is not adversely affected if rain occurs after application.
- Apply the product in two bands, about 7cm wide, each side of the spine between the rump and the shoulders using a 30mL Acatak Duostar Manual Applicator or 30mL Genesis Power Doserâ„¢ fitted with a fan spray nozzle (55 psi operating pressure). Dose to the heaviest animal in the mob. DO NOT underdose.
