The POS eID Tag Discount Program ended 31 Dec 2025
As part of the implementation of a national electronic identification (eID) traceability system for sheep and farmed goats, New South Wales primary producers received a point of sale eID tag discount.
- The NSW $0.69 discount was extended to 31st December 2025 but has now ceased. NSW DPIRD announced $ 2 million worth of new funding for NSW Producers and Livestock Agents for Handheld Readers under a Rebate Program which will be available directly from the NSW DPRID. More information HERE
- All NSW sheep and goat processors began scanning eIDs on July 1, 2024, with NSW Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) staff working closely with them to resolve any technical issues.
- Saleyards across the state had their infrastructure installed ahead of the 1 January 2025 implementation date.
