- Features
- Patriot Insecticide Ear Tags are for effective control of buffalo fly, including control of pyrethroid resistant fly populations on beef and dairy cattle. The ear tags are impregnated with Diazinon, an anticholinesterase insecticide of the organophosphate chemical class. The insecticide is slowly released from the tag to protect cattle against buffalo fly for up to 4 months. With the added convenience of a one ear tag system, Patriot is easier to apply and economical. The sustained buffalo fly control ensures the welfare of your animals to get the best out of your cattle.
- Patriot Insecticide Ear Tag for Cattle is impregnated with Diazinon 400 g/kg for the control of diazinon sensitive buffalo fly for up to four months on beef and dairy cattle, including control of pyrethroid resistant fly populations.
- Warnings: Do not tag calves less than 3 months of age as ear damage may occur.
- Recommended treatment program: Monitor your cattle and treat only when there are more than 200 flies per beef animal and 30 flies per dairy cow, or when more susceptible cattle, such as bulls show ‘fly worry’. Use ear tags, such as Patriot for the peak fly period, which is typically during December to May (will vary according to season). To prolong the effectiveness of the chemical groups available for fly control, do not use the same chemical year in year out. Use an organophosphate OP tag (Patriot or Co-Ral Plus) for 1 year and then rotate to an SP tag (Cylence Ultra) for the following year.
- Withholding Periods: Meat Nil. Remove tag before slaughter. Milk Nil.
- EXPORT SLAUGHTER INTERVAL (ESI): The minimum time between removal of ear tags and slaughter for export is zero (0) days.
- Directions for Use: For control of buffalo flies attach one tag/animal to the back of the ear. Patriot Insecticide Ear Tag for Cattle will give effective control of buffalo flies if used regularly on all animals (over 3 months of age). The treatment regime will also reduce potential for diazinon resistance to develop.
